![]() StatusNot done IntroductionI needed more room for my plants and seedlings. I'm cheap when it comes to buying plants. I'll buy one plant and when it gets big enough I'll take cuttings and root them. I just go a little over board and cut too many cutting at one time. So I need more room. The plan is to use this stand indoors. The dimensions were chosen so that each shelf could hold 4 of the standard 10 inch by 17 inch plant trays. Each shelf is lit by 2 shop lights. Tools HintsYou've heard "measure twice and cut once". Don't do that for every board. Did I just say to not follow the rule. Sort of. There are only 3 different lengths of boards to cut but many boards at each length. It is best to setup a stop the required distance from the saw blade. This will give you a consistant length for each cut. Better to have all boards at 46 1/8 then one board at 45 7/8 and another at 46. About the LightsThe lights are an important part of this setup. I spent a little more money and bought the shop lights where the bulbs are a farther distance apart. This gave a better distribution of light over the shelves. Some may be asking why 2 different bulbs. This is personal preference / experience. 4100K bulbs are cheap and work well. Some plants may get leggy under the bulbs. The 6500K or daylight bulbs are more expensive. They can sometimes cause some plants to grow short and stocky. I take the middle ground and put one of each color temperature in each shop light fixture. InstructionsNot much to the instuctions. Just takes some time to build. Its only made my condition worse. More space means more plants. Its full now. Soon I'll need another stand. Comments |
